Fremont PSAP board approves limited access to school security cameras for emergencies

Training for dispatch staff on the new system is planned for next summer before regular school is in session.
The board considered a staff report that Fremont Public Schools is installing security and camera systems to help responders at school incidents. The arrangement is intended to provide situational awareness to first responders during active emergencies; the PSAP will not retain or distribute camera footage, and staff said there is no cost to the PSAP for the access.
Board member Bob Missel moved to sign the interlocal agreement; Blair Horner seconded and the motion passed with Aye votes from Mayor Dev Sookram, Horner, Missel, Mark Jensen and Greg Beam.
The agreement and training timeline were presented as administrative steps rather than a policy change requiring ongoing board oversight. The board did not schedule further action on the item at the meeting.
