Service-Safety Director Michael Morton gave multiple operational updates at the May 20 council meeting.
Morton said summer-help interviews will be held this week with about 20 applicants. He reported the Lexington Springmill waterline has been installed but still needs pressure testing and treatment before it enters service. The Maple Lane waterline has been tapped to Park Avenue West and pipe installation is scheduled next week, with estimated completion of the project in the last week of June.
Morton also noted the NAMI 5K Run will be held at Marshall Park on May 30 at 9:00 a.m., and some roads will be closed for the event. He added that on June 1 the Raising Cane's water tower will be drained for interior maintenance, including cleaning and recoating with epoxy.
Other items included that the city does not own a particular utility pole (residents must contact Ohio Edison for naming matters) and that staff will contact the owner of the strip-mall parking lot by Walmart about safety concerns under an existing ordinance. No formal action or ordinance was adopted on these items during the meeting.
