Town officials noted the prior year's contract ($837,414.13) and told the board the increase is tied to changes in assessed values. After discussion the board moved and seconded a motion relating to the agreement; the board voted "Aye." Later the board moved to close the hearing and leave the record open for seven days for written comments, and that motion also passed.
The board then opened a second hearing for the West Elmsford Fire Protection District, noting a 2024 figure of $326,486.93. The motion to open consideration was moved, seconded and approved. The board similarly left the record open for seven days for written comments.
Town Attorney Jill Dank and other board members explained that the town negotiates these contracts with villages and fire companies to provide protection to areas outside town fire districts, and that the closest responders for those districts are the villages. The board specifically referenced assessed-value changes and Regeneron as a factor in valuation changes.
No public speaker offered substantive comments during the hearing segments on the agreements; both motions carried and the board left timelines open for one week to accept written comments.
