Town council unanimously confirms Elizabeth “Beth” Devereaux as finance director

The Lisbon Town Council voted 7–0 to confirm the town manager’s appointment of Elizabeth Devereaux to the position of finance director. The vote was taken after the interim manager introduced Devereaux and councilors had a brief opportunity to ask questions.

Devereaux, who asked to be called Beth, told the council she has worked in public accounting since graduating college, including time at Deloitte and about a decade focused on auditing municipal governments. She said much of her recent work has involved preparing audits and financial statements for town governments and that she and her family live in the region.

Interim manager (speaker 3) recommended Devereaux as the "right mixture of abilities and skills" to lead the finance team, noting the hiring process produced multiple candidates but that Devereaux’s municipal experience made her the top choice.

Councilors welcomed Devereaux and thanked staff for completing the process. The confirmation followed a brief procedural pause while the clerk returned to the room to conduct the roll call.

The council’s clerk recorded a roll-call vote of seven yes and no no votes; Devereaux will begin in the finance director role in the coming weeks, the council said.
