The board also approved requested road closures for the Brandon Independence Day parade, which the parade committee said will start about 9:30 a.m. and reopen around 11:00 a.m.
During public comment, residents raised concerns about persistent dumping and nighttime fires on Syndicate Road and pressed the board for options including gating, increased patrols, cameras and physical barriers. The manager and selectboard members discussed jurisdictional constraints when a road crosses town lines and limits on overnight coverage, noting that a study of calls for service found roughly "80% of all the requests for police happen in the 12 hours between 8AM and 8PM." The board encouraged further investigation and intermunicipal outreach.
