MMAC unanimously approves amended rules to add student seats and outreach coordinator

Emma Haskett, MMAC secretary, presented the proposed amendments and explained the operational changes, including limiting email distribution lists to current MMAC members, standing subcommittee members, and MCSD board members. The committee also authorized MMAC to pursue funding in partnership with the County and added the MCSD McKinleyville Forest Committee to its subcommittee list.
Committee member Kevin Jenkins moved to approve the amended Rules and Regulations; Michael Smith seconded. The committee approved the motion by unanimous consent with five members present (Mary Burke, Kevin Jenkins, Scott Binder, Michael Smith, Emma Haskett). An action item directs submission of the approved Rules and Regulations to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors for final approval.
The change to allow student participation remains contingent on Board of Supervisors approval; the student seats are explicitly nonvoting and limited to one-year terms. The amendments also clarify internal communications procedures and streamline application processing by routing submissions to the MMAC chair email address rather than the Clerk of the Board.
The committee did not alter membership counts or voting rules for appointed members. The committee recorded the motion as approved by unanimous consent and listed the action to forward the amended rules to the Board of Supervisors as the next procedural step.
