The Colts Neck Township School District Board of Education approved a slate of routine action items at its Sept. 17 meeting, including field trips, curriculum and finance items, a single policy item, and 22 personnel actions.
Board President Volpe presided over the business meeting and called for roll calls on each motion. The board voted by roll call to table approval of the Aug. 27 minutes earlier in the meeting and later approved the action items presented under the agenda categories. Clerk Murasco conducted each roll-call vote.
Field trips: The board approved the listed field trips, including recurring offerings such as the Stokes trip and other student travel programs. Discussion noted that some trips (for example, the Stokes trip) have longstanding parent-chaperone participation and that the district uses a mix of parent volunteers and staff when needed.
Curriculum and finance: Curriculum agenda items 1–4 and finance agenda items 1–4 were each moved, seconded and approved by roll call with the affirmative votes recorded by the clerk.
Policy: The board moved and approved a single policy item (discussion referenced a sunscreen-related policy). The motion carried by roll call.
Personnel and recusals: The board approved personnel items 1–22. Two recusals were recorded during the personnel roll call: one member recused from item 13 and another recused from item 6; the remaining personnel motions were approved. The board noted members should take time to review lengthy personnel lists when presented.
Procedure and next steps: After completing the public business, the board closed the livestream to enter an executive session to discuss the superintendent’s contract. The public agenda actions described above are reflected in the board’s minutes and will be listed on the district’s meeting records.
