The Guilderland Town Board voted on March 17 to approve a contract with the Town of Knox under which Guilderland EMS will provide Advanced Life Support services and ambulance coverage in portions of Knox.
Director of Emergency Medical Services Sean McGaughnea told the board that Guilderland EMS has provided Advanced Life Support services to Knox residents for more than 20 years and, for the past two years, has also provided ambulance service in parts of Knox. The new agreement covers EMS service provision and the management of billing revenue; it also formalizes the distribution of funds between Guilderland EMS and the Helderberg Ambulance Squad. Under the agreement, Knox will pay Guilderland $85,000.
Councilman McDonald moved to approve the contract with the Town of Knox; Councilman Crawford seconded and the motion carried by roll call (Councilman Crawford, Councilwoman Beedle, Councilman Santos, Councilman McDonald, and Supervisor Barber all voting Aye). The contract authorizes Guilderland EMS to receive funds and manage billing as described in the Director’s memorandum.
