City Administrator Ivone Smith told the board the fireworks are estimated to cost $10,300 and that $3,700 in donations had been raised, leaving a $6,600 shortfall. Smith said she and Mayor Kooyman were seeking additional donations and asked whether the Park Board would commit $3,000 so she could ask the BPW Board for a matching $3,000. Board Member Walker Culp moved the contribution; Board Member Brenda Crumbie seconded. The motion carried, 5–0.
The board did not record additional donors or a deadline for securing the remaining funds in the meeting minutes. Smith said the board would be notified if more donations arrive and that she would present the Park Board contribution to the BPW Board for consideration.
