School board president asks Colts Neck to consider returning portion of bus‑camera fines to district

Angelique Bulby, president of the Colts Neck Board of Education, told the township committee during public comment that red-arm bus‑camera installation on school buses has led to enforcement and revenue and asked the township to verify how that revenue is allocated.

Bulby said she was told the township receives a portion of the violation revenue with the remainder going to the state and "I would like to respectfully ask this committee to verify whether that is correct. And if so, I formally would like to request that a portion of those proceeds be returned to our district so we can reinvest directly into the safety and security of our children." She also noted that eight violations have already been identified since the cameras were installed.

Committee members responded that they would verify the revenue-sharing arrangement. One committee member (who spoke earlier about police action and school safety) said the township and sports foundation shared costs for portable toilets at Five Points and noted coordination with the school district on safety programs; the committee also said it would provide documentation and follow up with the school district.
