John Roach, special projects manager in public works, briefed the council on current and planned capital improvement projects. Roach summarized ongoing work at the Farmers Branch Office Park (FBOP) lift station — a rehab that will install new pumps, a new motor control center, a generator and move equipment from an in‑ground vault to an above‑ground shelter. He said upcoming budget items include an annual street rehabilitation program (about $4.9 million) and traffic signal improvements (roughly $225,000).
On stormwater, Roach said the city is budgeting about $5.7 million including Reach 2 and Reach 4 work; Reach 2 includes large gabion walls for creek bank stabilization, encasement of sanitary sewer and storm sewer reconstruction near Farmers Branch Creek. He noted Reach 4 is substantially complete. Roach said a potential Valley V drainage phase two — conceived to run north‑south between the station area and apartments — could proceed depending on funding and DART’s coordination.
Council members thanked staff and asked procedural questions about project postings and timing; Roach said the project roster is updated on the transparency portal and staff will provide updates as projects move to procurement.
