Diaz said those averages are in the vendor’s “good” range but that individual facilities vary and some will require significant investment.
“Typically, if you have scores between 11% to 50%, you’re pretty much in the good range,” Diaz said, summarizing the vendor’s scoring framework. He told council that the vendor commended the city’s facilities and facilities staff and that staff will use the assessment data to prioritize projects and recommend budget requests in upcoming years.
Diaz identified several near‑term high‑cost needs, including HVAC replacements that are already scheduled to be brought forward within the next month and life‑safety or fire‑system work at a few buildings that will be expensive. He said staff are coordinating with the city manager’s office to refine budget recommendations as the plan moves toward final designs and procurement.
Council members asked for clarity on budget timing and the implications for the capital plan. Diaz said the assessment deliverables include the vendor’s scoring and a software package with the collected data; staff will refine the capital requests and present them in the budget cycle. No formal decisions or motions were taken during the study session.
