State Representative Andrea White addressed the Oakwood City Council to commend local inclusion efforts and to provide a legislative update. She said the capital bill introduced that day includes $450,000 she helped secure to benefit Schaefer and Orchardly Parks, with hearings scheduled and an expectation the bill will advance in the coming days. "We've been working together to try to bring some capital dollars for you all... I was able to secure $450,000 in the capital bill that was introduced today," White said, adding that hearings were planned and the bill would likely move through the legislature in early June.
White also described a statewide approach to e-bike safety that begins with education and public awareness, advocates for driver training and testing, and encourages a study of definitions and gaps in existing law. "Let's just take a look at this and let's educate people," she said, stressing coordination among municipal leaders, law enforcement and regional planning groups. White said the issue will be studied and that broader policy recommendations would follow.
At council, members thanked White for her work and for consulting with local stakeholders on the e-bike topic. The representative urged residents to continue providing ideas and said her office welcomes further input on local priorities.
