Hampstead adds e-bill option for water customers, town staff says there is no charge for e-bills

Hampstead staff announced at the May 27 Planning & Zoning Commission meeting that residents can now sign up to receive water bills electronically through the town website.
"We did add the ability for, uh, residents to request e bills for the water billing," town staff member Christina said, describing a drop-down on the town website where residents may opt in. She added, "So, there's no charge for the eBill," and that email notices include a link that takes customers directly to their online account where they can enroll in features such as automatic payments. Christina also noted that credit-card payments incur a convenience fee.
Why it matters: the change gives residents an option to avoid paper mail and to get immediate notice when a bill is generated. Staff said the feature has already been discovered and used by several customers and that the town will continue to promote the option.
Commissioners asked whether there is a fee for e-billing; staff confirmed the e-bill itself is free and reiterated the convenience-fee applies only to card payments. No formal action was required or taken on the announcement.
