On nutrition services, Beamer said the district served more than 310,000 meals this year and that an associated provision in a House Bill will extend free meals for every elementary student through 2030. Board members asked for clarification about eligibility; staff explained the provision includes a need‑based element tied to free/reduced percentage and urged families to fill out the (paper) form so the district can capture secondary‑level eligibility in future years. The superintendent said data access is confidential and used for funding and program support; staff noted that filling the form can also unlock supports such as subsidized field trips.
Board members requested follow‑up communications explaining the application process and confidentiality protections. The superintendent said the district will provide more detail and outreach to families ahead of next school year.
