Lanett council approves routine business, tables liquor-license request pending inspection

The Lanett City Council handled several routine items on July 21, approving the meeting agenda and July 7 minutes, accepting invoices, selecting municipal election officials, and authorizing an extension of a storm drain project on North 17th Court.
Councilmember Angelia Finley Thomas moved to approve the agenda and later moved to extend the storm drain project; both motions, along with approval of invoices and selection of election officials under Resolution 07-25-03, carried unanimously. Mayor Jamie Heard presided over the meeting.
A request for a Restaurant Retail Liquor License for 1701 Bar and Grill, at 2025 Magnolia Road (owner Freriquz Williams), was discussed but tabled after Code Enforcement Officer Johnny Wood reported the building inspection was not complete. Councilmember Tifton Dobbs moved to table the application until proper inspections are done; Councilmember Thomas seconded and the motion carried.
Other routine items included a proclamation recognizing the Day of Prayer for Chambers County and a series of department updates. The council adjourned at 6:49 p.m.
