The Lanett City Council voted by roll call July 7 to enter an executive session to discuss pending legal matters and later voted to reconvene in open session, according to the meeting minutes.
Mayor Jamie Heard announced the intent to move into executive session and Attorney Gray stated the purpose was to discuss pending legal matters. The recorded roll-call votes to enter and to exit the executive session were: Tamalita Autry — Yes; Angelia Finley Thomas — Yes; Tifton Dobbs — Yes; Ronnie Tucker — Yes; Jamie Heard — Yes. Councilmember Malone was recorded as absent for the meeting.
Earlier in the meeting Councilmember Angelia Finley Thomas read a proclamation recognizing National Night Out, scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2025; the Police Department will sponsor the event. Mayor Heard also thanked city employees for working in extreme heat and reminded the public that the Restoration Committee would hold a cleanup on Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m.; Steve Wheeler stated crews would work in all five districts.
