The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors approved appointments to the county Commission of Veteran Affairs and recorded that VA Director Rich Shinn plans to retire within the next year.
By motion of Supervisor Scott Jacobs, seconded by Supervisor Scott Becker, the board approved Richard (Rich) Shinn as Executive Director and appointed Trae Thomas (term ending 2027) as chairperson, Daryl Bean (unexpired term ending 2026) as secretary, and Mike Ewing (unexpired term ending 2025) as a commission member. The motion carried unanimously.
Shinn told the board that he and Annette Vogel plan to retire within the next year; the board confirmed the appointments for the commission terms recorded in the minutes.
Next steps: the Commissioners will serve the terms noted and the county will continue veterans services administration under the Executive Director until his retirement.
