Lanett council approves land donation, weed abatements and airport hangar marketing proposal

The Lanett City Council on July 7 unanimously approved a set of resolutions that included acceptance of a land donation from the Ennis family, adoption of multiple weed-abatement orders and acceptance of a proposal related to airport hangar marketing and construction.
Councilmember Tamalita Autry read Resolution 07-25-01 accepting the land gift from the Ennis family; Councilmember Angelia Finley Thomas moved to accept the donation and Councilmember Tifton Dobbs seconded. The council voted unanimously to accept the donation.
Councilmember Angelia Finley Thomas read Resolution 07-25-02 directing weed abatement for properties owned or associated with Desiree Akins and Jennifer Davis; Dale Jennings and Thomas Preston Sr.; Heriberto and Erick Resendiz; Jonathan Porter; Dwight Leroy Culberson; James Smith Jr.; and Jermey Smith. Councilmember Ronnie Tucker moved to adopt the resolution; Councilmember Tifton Dobbs seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Under old business, Councilmember Autry read Resolution 06-25-11 to accept a proposal for airport hangar marketing and construction. Councilmember Tifton Dobbs moved to accept the resolution and Councilmember Angelia Finley Thomas seconded. Attorney Gray stated that because there was no cost associated with the proposal, the city was not required to solicit bids. The motion carried unanimously.
