Staff summarized the proposal to replace low monument signs with an additional commercial center freestanding sign on SR-92 (reducing height to 15 feet but adding one more sign) and to change colors and some design details. The planning commission recommended approval with conditions: keep a three-foot stone base for the freestanding signs and retain a dark background with white lettering for legibility.
Council members were concerned the applicant had not attended the meeting and asked for the applicant to return to explain design and location choices; after discussion the council voted 3–2 to continue the item two weeks so a representative could be present and answer detailed questions.
Next steps: staff will notify the applicant to appear at the next council meeting and will verify that proposed sign setbacks and distances meet the city's code before any final action.
