Neighbors urge quick action after trucks, diversion push traffic onto Salt Air Drive

"I have to pull in the opposite lane when there's a break and then I have to force myself into the lane to get just out of my driveway," said Dustin Kendall, a Salt Air Drive resident, describing long delays and repeated close calls. Neighbors also described large numbers of dump trucks and speeding through the neighborhood.
Speakers urged the council and staff to treat the problem as urgent rather than waiting for the next council meeting. Scott Miller and Sharon Webb Miler both asked for near-term mitigations: a temporary barricade or 'No Outlet' sign for short dead-end streets, rumble strips, additional enforcement, and immediate outreach from public works. Several residents said they would email photos and video to the city so staff could include them in the record.
Mayor and council members said city staff would contact the neighborhood and have public works follow up the next morning. "We'll have our public works department be in contact with you in the morning," the mayor told speakers.
Next steps: city staff committed to have public works reach out to the named neighborhood contact and to evaluate temporary traffic control options; residents were invited to submit photo and video evidence by email so it becomes part of the public record.
