Lower Pottsgrove to open new municipal building March 2; sale settlement moved to March 31

Lower Pottsgrove Township leaders confirmed that the new municipal building at 1963 E. High Street will open on March 2, 2026, and voted to push the settlement on the sale of the former township building at 2199 Buchert Road to on or before March 31, 2026.
Township Manager Edward C. Wagner told the Board that most files have been moved to the new building, computers will be hooked up the Friday before opening, and telephone lines will be ported at noon on March 2. Wagner said construction work on a separate Schuylkill River Trail connection to Route 422 is expected to begin next week, weather permitting, and is likely to finish in the third quarter with a ribbon-cutting afterward.
Wagner thanked the road crew and administrative staff for packing and moving. He said contractor JP Mascaro provided extra trucks and handled additional trash and recycling at no extra charge; Mascaro will collect boxes for recycling at the new building. Family Services will retain most of the first-floor furniture, with some pieces moved to the Police Department and the rest disposed of, Wagner said.
Commissioner Robert Mohollen moved to postpone the March 2 settlement for 2199 Buchert Road and set a new deadline of on or before March 31, 2026; Commissioner William Keohane seconded the motion and the Board approved it 5-0. Solicitor Jamie Ottaviano had noted the township may extend settlement under the terms of the Agreement of Sale.
A township staff member, Mr. Lopez, reported contractors are finishing the punch list, thermostat covers were installed to reduce costs, and he will verify that phone and computer ports are live before the March 2 opening. "This is the last official meeting of the Board in this building as the next meeting will be at 1963 E. High Street," Commissioner Michael McGroarty said, thanking Public Works and administrative staff for the move.
The Board did not take additional votes on the building sale at the meeting; the settlement date change was the only formal action related to the property. The township scheduled its next regularly scheduled meeting for Monday, March 2, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the new municipal building.
