Leitchfield council adopts amended FY2025–26 budget with multiple line-item revisions

Leitchfield City Council adopted an amended annual budget ordinance for fiscal year 2025–26 during its June 3 meeting, following a second and final reading and a roll-call vote.

The ordinance presented detailed adjustments to projected cash and line-item revenues and expenditures across the general, utility and tourism funds. Notable revisions read into the record included an increase in projected general fund cash from 11,116,461 to 13,458,533 and revised restaurant-tax receipts to $1,200,000 in the general fund. The reading also listed changes to the utility and tourism funds and numerous departmental and grant lines as part of the ordinance text.

Councilors had the opportunity to ask questions of staff; the meeting transcript shows the budget document was discussed with staff member Sabrina referenced during the exchange. With no substantive questions recorded, Councilor Clayton moved to adopt the amended ordinance; the motion received a second and the clerk conducted a roll-call vote. The motion carried as recorded.

The amended ordinance updates the city’s fiscal estimates and appropriations for the remainder of the FY2025–26 year. The council adopted the ordinance on June 3 and proceeded to the next agenda item.
