Resident Gabriel Levidro offers to donate Little Free Library; commission approves installation

Gabriel Levidro told the Sykesville Parks and Recreation Commission on May 28 that he would buy and donate a Little Free Library to be placed at the top of the trail at Greyway and asked the town to install the post.
"My name is Gabriel Levidro. I live in Hawkbridgeidge Farm… I would love to donate the little library," Levidro said, explaining he and a neighbor would stock and maintain the box for neighborhood children. Commissioners discussed accessibility for very young children and the location near bus stops and agreed town staff could help with installation. A commissioner said the post would cost about $150.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved a motion to accept the donation and have Public Works install the post. Levidro said he would order the unit immediately and coordinate shipping with staff so the town could arrange installation.
The donor and his volunteers said they would check and maintain the collection, and commissioners noted other Little Free Libraries in town that may be redistributed if needed. Next steps are for the donor to place the order and for staff to coordinate post installation and timing with Public Works.
