The superintendent told the board the district gathered roughly 26 teachers over two sessions to develop a teacher-leader job description and presented a corresponding Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to the union.
“We gathered about 26 teachers over two Wednesdays… we developed a teacher leader job description and to the union, you know, they tabled it tonight because they just got it Friday night,” the superintendent said. He added that the district understands the union’s need to review the proposal and called the presentation preliminary.
He said the district envisions starting conservatively—possibly as a pilot year—and noted the MOA language is set to include a sunset at the end of the coming school year if adopted. The superintendent said negotiations with the GTA will continue next year.
No final action on the MOA occurred at the meeting; the superintendent invited board members and staff to ask questions and signaled continued discussions with the union and teacher leaders.
