Longswamp supervisors approve $38,283.79 in fire relief and several routine expenditures

The Longswamp Township Board of Supervisors voted Oct. 28 to disburse State Aid fire relief money totaling $38,283.79 to the Topton Volunteer Fire Company and approved interim and current disbursements of $177,983.84 and fund transfers of $17,009.38 for Oct. 14–28, 2025.

Secretary/Treasurer Candace L. Cameron presented the bills and recommended payments. Supervisor Mike Sacks moved to process payment as presented and to disburse the full State Aid amount to Topton Fire Company; Vice Chairperson Mark Hilbert seconded both motions. Both the bills motion and the fire-relief disbursement passed with all supervisors voting in favor.

The board also approved a series of smaller administrative motions later in the meeting: a $61.00 agreement with Lantek for Windows 10 extended security updates for the township file server, a tax-collector exoneration removing responsibility for two small accounts totaling $235.71, a reduced-assessed-value refund of $32.45 for a State Street property (PIN 59547316737875), and authorization to purchase a TV and wall mount for the municipal office camera display not to exceed $400.00. Each motion was made by Supervisor Mike Sacks, seconded by Vice Chairperson Mark Hilbert, and approved unanimously.

The board recorded a roll-call vote for the disbursements motion: Mike Sacks, yes; Mark Hilbert, yes; Don Hickman, yes.

The actions conclude a routine fiscal agenda ahead of the Nov. 4 municipal election and follow normal township procedures for small IT, tax-administration, and equipment purchases.
