At its July 21 meeting the Ouachita Parish Police Jury's Finance Committee reviewed and the Jury approved multiple administrative and personnel items.
Treasurer Mr. Long presented the claim statement for June 13–July 17, 2025; the Finance Committee approved payment of claims and the regular meeting later ratified those committee actions. The committee also approved an OCC uniform purchase that Mr. Long said would likely require a formal budget amendment because the budgeted amount ($30,000) is substantially lower than the estimated $172,000 replacement cost for OCC uniforms.
Chief Moore of the Fire Department requested approval for multiple travel requests (APCO and EMS World Expo), declared several storage buildings surplus for public auction, requested promotions and a substitute appointment, and asked for approval to hire 22 firefighter recruits contingent on passing remaining tests; the Jury approved the travel, surplus declarations, promotions, substitute appointment and hires by motion without opposition.
Assistant District Attorney Mr. Mitchell presented Resolution No. 25-24, authorizing the Police Jury president to execute and sign right-of-way documents and related acts for the Ruffin Drive bridge replacement/improvement (State Project No. H.014232) under the Federal Off-System Bridge Program; the minutes record adoption of Resolution No. 25-24 on July 21, 2025.
Public Works requested and received approval to hire two Equipment Operator I positions. With no additional business, the meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
