Cleburne renews SRO agreement with school district; CISD to pay $482,504.85 for 2025–26

The Cleburne City Council voted to renew an interlocal agreement with Cleburne Independent School District to continue School Resource Officer (SRO) assignments at designated campuses for the 2025–26 school year.
Chief Severns told the council the district will pay $482,504.85 for four officers and one sergeant — an increase of $183,504.85 from the last update in 2018. The district’s share is structured as 65% of salary and benefits for three officers, 75% for one officer who also works summer school, and 50% for the assigned sergeant; the city will still absorb roughly $117,000 in unreimbursed operational costs for vehicles, uniforms and equipment for the four officers.
Council discussed the allocation and confirmed the split is consistent with similar arrangements in comparable municipalities. Councilmember Oliver Cosby moved to approve the resolution, John Warren seconded, and the council approved the renewal unanimously.
