Select Board approves liquor license for By the Sea with conditions limiting beach service

The Dennis Select Board on Aug. 12 granted a seasonal all-alcohol license to 57 BTS LLC, trading as By the Sea, at 57 Chase Avenue in Dennisport with multiple conditions intended to restrict alcohol to on-premises areas and reduce risk to nearby beaches.
Owner Leon Navone presented measurements and photos of the property and said the license request confines alcohol service to a fenced veranda, the lobby, a lawn/fire-pit area and an accessible ramp. In discussion, board members emphasized that the beach itself would not be included in the licensed premises; one member said, "As long as, as far as the lawn fire pit area, I think that's great... it's fenced in." Navone confirmed the space would be managed by on-site staff and family members, and that they would limit service and provide supervision.
The board made approval conditional on submission of a detailed floor plan to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission (ABCC), signage notifying patrons that no alcohol is allowed on the beach, and the hours of operation to be 8 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday. The board also approved Tom Andrews as the manager on the ABCC application for the premises.
The motion passed unanimously. Staff will forward the required documentation to the ABCC and the applicant was told to coordinate with licensing staff on any final paperwork.
