Blenzinger outlined upcoming community preparedness events (family-friendly sessions at Fire Station 2 and partner classes with Orum) and said sessions cover topics from basic life-saving actions to emergency financial planning. He emphasized the city’s Everbridge alert system for evacuation notices and boil orders and encouraged residents to register via a QR code.
On volunteers, Blenzinger noted the city works with community CERT volunteers and other grassroots responders and has shifted from nine-week CERT courses to shorter, more accessible preparedness presentations to increase participation. He invited neighborhood groups to request tailored presentations.
What comes next: staff will continue monthly preparedness meetings and outreach; residents were invited to upcoming sessions and to sign up for Everbridge alerts.
