The Farmers Branch City Council unanimously approved Resolution 2026‑079 to accept a donation from the Metrocrest Hospital Authority covering five Ventus HERO portable ventilators for the city’s fire department.
Officials described the devices as FDA‑cleared, rugged transport ventilators intended to provide reliable, lung‑protective ventilation in prehospital settings and to reduce manual bag‑valve variability and provider fatigue. Chief Latimer and Captain Ball explained the units will expand EMS capabilities and free personnel for other interventions during respiratory calls. Metrocrest representatives thanked the council for accepting the donation.
Council formally moved, seconded and voted; the motion passed by unanimous vote. No additional funding was requested to purchase the units because the donation covers the purchase and staff said it reduces the department’s budget request for the coming year.
What happens next: Staff will execute the interlocal agreement and coordinate receipt and deployment of the five HERO ventilators to the Fire Department.
