Superintendent Brent Williams used the June 1 meeting to recognize departures, promotions and administrative assignments across Lenoir County Public Schools.
Williams announced Dr. Amy Jones will leave the district to take a position with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction providing regional support for career and technical education. Williams named Dr. Elizabeth Pierce, current principal of Southore High School, to step into a central-office role; Jeremy Barnett (current principal of Whittington Middle) will move to South High principalship and David Combes (assistant principal at South High) will move to Whittington Middle principal. Multiple assistant-principal and principal assignments across elementary and secondary schools were also announced, and the board recognized the retirement of Leanne Hardy after 26 years with the district.
Those personnel changes were presented as informational recognitions and then approved as part of the personnel report following closed-session consideration; the transcript indicates the personnel report was approved by voice vote. The superintendent praised the leaders for their service and urged the board and community to support transitions.
No employment contracts or salary details beyond the personnel report were discussed publicly during the meeting.
