Board approves modest increases to student meal prices to cover inflation

"This proposed adjustment will help maintain program sustainability and preserve milk quality and variety," he said, outlining the recommended changes: pre‑K meals from $2.40 to $2.50, kindergarten through fifth from $2.65 to $2.75, and sixth through 12th from $2.90 to $3.00. The board approved the request by voice vote (motion carries 7‑0).
Board members who spoke in support thanked staff for limiting the increase. One member said, "No one likes paying higher prices... but I can tell that you really put a lot of thought in this," and the motion carried without dissent. The increase is intended to be a modest, program‑sustaining adjustment rather than a revenue expansion.
The action was taken during the consent/business portion of the meeting; staff noted the change represents roughly a ten‑cent per‑meal increase across the stated grade bands and will be implemented for the 2026‑27 school year.
