Allegheny Township board approves procurement awards, authorizes grant resolution and adopts PepperBall policy

At its April 14 meeting the Allegheny Township Board of Supervisors approved several administrative and procurement actions and authorized a grant application while tabling a separate hiring decision.
Supervisor Mike Korns moved to award 2025 aggregate and stone contracts under the DLI procurement guidelines for Department of Public Works commodities; Vice Chair Jeff Pollick seconded the motion and it carried. Awarded vendors and the recorded per-ton bid amounts included M&M Lime Company (AASHTO #1 and #8 washed), McClymonds Supply (AASHTO #2A and R4 Rip Rap), Heidelberg Materials (AASHTO #40, #57, #67, Gabion Stone, R5 Rip Rap) and others as listed in the meeting record. The board recorded the bid unit prices and accepted the low bids for each listed commodity.
Vice Chair Jeff Pollick moved (seconded by Supervisor Mike Korns) to authorize Resolution R-7-2025 as part of the township's grant application to the Pennsylvania Small Water & Sewer Program through the CPA for Pollution Reduction Plan improvements; the motion carried.
A separate motion to hire seasonal DPW employees Randy Catchpoole, Steve Kanas and Mark Sappe at $18 per hour (not to exceed 24 hours per week) was tabled after a motion by Vice Chair Pollick and second by Supervisor Korns.
The board also approved advertising the township's 2025 paving project for award in May and approved the Allegheny Township Police Department PepperBall Policy as drafted; both motions carried. The board approved departmental reports and the financial report for March 2025 earlier in the meeting.
Motions were typically moved by Vice Chair Jeff Pollick or Supervisor Mike Korns and recorded in the minutes as "motion carries." The meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
