Town Board approves new highway and equipment purchases including $583,030 asphalt paver

At the Feb. 26 meeting the Town Board adopted a set of capital purchase resolutions to replace aging highway and departmental equipment.
Councilman Frank J. Bertoni presented resolutions to purchase a new 2025 CAT 420XE backhoe through a Buy Back Program at a net difference of $45,000 after a $95,440 trade-in; a 2025 Caterpillar AP1055 asphalt paver for $583,030 to replace a 2012 Road Tech paver; two ODB LCT650 John Deere towable leaf vacs at $89,996.32 each for a total of $179,992.64; and a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado MD work truck for $78,718.50. The board also approved purchasing a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado pickup for Code Enforcement at $37,416.23. Each resolution was moved by Bertoni and seconded by Thomas R. Augostini and recorded as "All yes." The minutes specify state contract procurement references for each purchase (NYS OGS/Sourcewell contract numbers) and that replaced equipment will be declared surplus and sold at auction following receipt of new units.
The motions noted funding from the Capital Line and Highway Equipment Account as appropriate; exact budget lines were recorded in the meeting minutes. The purchases are intended to replace outdated machinery and maintain departmental capacity for road and parks work.
