Ipswich Board of Health sets June 1 public hearings for tobacco-sale rule changes and fee schedule

The Ipswich Board of Health agreed on May 4 to hold two public hearings on June 1, 2026. Director of Public Health Colleen Fermon presented proposed language to the Regulation Restricting the Sale of Tobacco Products that would exempt businesses that were operating with Tobacco Product Sales permits in 2022 from two location-based restrictions (proximity to schools and to other permitted retailers). The Board set a public hearing date to solicit public comment and further consider the amendment.
Separately, the Board scheduled a hearing on proposed changes to the Board of Health Fee Schedule for June 1. Director Fermon said the proposed fee updates address late renewal fees for annual applications, fees for Temporary Food Establishments and Farmers Market Temporary Food Establishments, and increases in pool-related and well fees. The public hearing will allow stakeholders and retail operators to comment before the Board considers any adoption.
