Beaumont Kappa League honored; youth leader describes STEM, financial literacy and leadership work

He described the Kappa League as a place where members learn financial literacy—saying each member opened a bank account with a local bank—and engage in community service and partnerships with regional institutions.
Dickerson said the chapter has 20 participants (he counted himself plus 19 others) and highlighted collaborations with Lamar University for outreach work and events. He framed the program as an antidote to negative narratives about young men in Beaumont and emphasized long-term goals: leadership, higher education, and returning skills to the community.
The proclamation recognized the local Kappa League chapter's contributions; the council did not take formal funding or contract action during the presentation. Dickerson closed by thanking the council and community for their support.
