Bechtel and Port Arthur LNG highlight second year of partnership with Beaumont ISD to build construction workforce

Bechtel Energy and Port Arthur LNG representatives accepted a proclamation from the Beaumont City Council recognizing a partnership with Beaumont Independent School District aimed at preparing students for construction careers.

Jason Malone, identified by the council as the accepting representative for Bechtel and Port Arthur LNG, said the program is now in its second year and emphasized its role in introducing students to the construction trades. "We started this collaboration with Beaumont ISD last year. This is our second year going into it. Probably one of the most exciting things that we get to take part of...being in large construction is welcoming on that next generation of workers," Malone said. He thanked parents, teachers and the district for their support and said the company intends to continue the program and provide job-site exposure.

The proclamation, presented by the council's presiding official, recognized Bechtel's work partnering with Beaumont ISD and invited recipients and partners to accept the recognition and take photographs. Malone said the hands-on elements of the program and workplace exposure are intended to be part of a "legacy of learning," with the employer partnering on training and site visits.

The council did not take formal votes on the partnership at the meeting; the proclamation is an official recognition rather than a funding or contract action. The company representative indicated continued engagement with the district and students, including planned site visits following the presentation.
