Shelburne Planning Commission seeks Selectboard input on Town Plan update, aims for fall 2026 completion

Commissioners and staff discussed community engagement measures already underway, including distribution of a town‑wide survey. Town Manager/Planning staff and commissioners emphasized the need to match aspirations with available financial resources; Chunka Mui said the plan should "be specific about long‑term aspirations but should not be so specific that it binds the town to certain actions." Aaron DeNamur, the town's Director of Planning & Zoning, said the plan should provide concrete objectives to guide staff work.
The commission noted that design guidelines for the Village are being updated but that there has been no discussion yet about townwide design review. Commissioners identified balancing topic coverage across the plan and ensuring implementation-oriented actions as priorities for the update. The work is anticipated to be completed in fall 2026, with an update on community engagement expected at the next Planning Commission meeting.
At the meeting the commission approved routine business items including the agenda and Jan. 8, 2026 minutes (both passed 6‑0) and adjourned at 9:17 p.m. The next Planning Commission meeting is set for Feb. 26, 2026, when CCRPC will attend to discuss public engagement.
