New Ray County Veterans Association to take on local duties; commission approves Eagleton Center rental rate increase

On May 14, Jason Blakeman of the newly formed Ray County Veterans Association and Jackie Creamer, commander of the American Legion, described a local transition. The Ray County Veterans Association, formed as a state-registered nonprofit April 9, 2026, will continue veterans-support activities in the community and will assume custodianship of the building previously operated by the American Legion. The minutes record the group’s intention to remain involved in community activities and support veterans’ families.
On May 7 the commission voted to approve an agreement raising the Eagleton Civic Center rental rate to $225 per rental; a portion of the revenue will be allocated to the center for ongoing maintenance and repairs. The motion was carried 3-0.
Commissioners also received a phone-system upgrade request from Bryan Couch of the Eagleton Center; staff will follow up on that request.
The minutes do not include fiscal projections for the rental increase or a specific allocation percentage for revenue earmarked to the center.
