Bluff council reviews proposed $10,000 land transfer to expand Bluff Cemetery; vote deferred

Town staff told the Bluff Town Council on June 2 that the town is considering acquiring 1.84 acres from the Southwest Heritage Foundation to expand the Bluff Cemetery.
Erin Nelson said the foundation requested $10,000 for the parcel and that funds are available in the FY25/26 budget to cover the cost. Nelson noted the tract under consideration would add to the existing cemetery but represents roughly half of current burial sites; she said some portions of the cemetery are already owned by the town and that a survey and aerial imagery were shared with the council.
The council did not vote on the acquisition at the meeting; Nelson said the item will return for a future vote. No purchase agreement, closing date or additional terms were recorded in the minutes. The council did not record any formal objections or amendments during the discussion.
