Tri‑County advances RGMP 2050 update after outreach to roughly 30–35 organizations

Commission staff provided an update on the Regional Growth Management Plan (RGMP) 2050 process and said targeted stakeholder outreach is winding down.

"We've been able to speak to about 50 people from 30 some 30 to 35 organizations so far," Lindsay Greer said, summarizing expert outreach and stakeholder engagement. Staff are compiling public‑input survey feedback, working with GIS to run a land suitability analysis and preparing scenario planning for alternative growth futures.

Greer said the approach will be more analytical and less prescriptive than prior updates, using scores to indicate suitability across the region rather than mapping prescriptive parcel‑level instructions. Staff plan follow‑up reviews with this commission and a broader stakeholder group before drafting plan policies; the timeline anticipates scenario review in late summer with draft plan work toward fall and potential final approval early next year.

Commissioners asked how the plan will account for data centers, transmission lines, traffic and water/sewer capacity. Greer said transportation and access‑to‑transit are explicit inputs in the GIS work, and that municipal water and sewer capacity constraints will be considered because suitability for development depends on utilities as well as vacant land.
