Council tables fire‑truck grant application, approves Growing Greener match and Act 167 support

Manor Borough Council on June 11 tabled action on applying for an LSA grant to purchase a fire truck, citing an expiring vendor quote, and approved two other grant‑related items: signing a Growing Greener grant landowner commitment (with a stated 5% match) and providing a letter of support for the county Act 167 stormwater plan update.
Borough Manager Joseph N. Lapia told council the vendor quote for a fire truck expires in 30 days and said the borough will need an updated quote closer to the October application period. Greg Stutz indicated obtaining a new quote would be a quick phone call. Solicitor Chelsea Dice recommended tabling the LSA application until September 1 so the resolution could be considered at the Sept. 10 council meeting. Mr. Gongaware moved to table the request; Ms. Lynn seconded. Mr. Nemitz recorded opposition to tabling; the motion to table nevertheless carried.
Separately, council authorized the borough manager to sign a landowner letter of commitment and a letter of match for a Growing Greener grant; Manager Lapia stated the grant requires a 5% financial match. Council also approved a request from the Westmoreland Conservation District for a letter of support on the countywide stormwater Act 167 update, with motions passing unanimously.
Council did not take final action on the fire‑truck application and expects to revisit grant application steps after obtaining an updated vendor quote and preparing a resolution closer to the application window.
