The Rockland Council on Aging met Feb. 11, 2026, at 317 Plain Street; Chairman Andrew McCarthy called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. During the roughly one-hour session, members reviewed routine reports and shared updates about staffing, services and upcoming events.
The financial report was read and a motion concerning the report was made by Ruth Assetta and seconded by Jack Conway; the transcript records the motion but does not record the vote outcome. The outreach report said School House Apartments for the elderly has 27 units and that applicants are being interviewed for occupancy.
In the director’s report, staff said the Legion donated $500 to the center. Staff also announced that Lorena, a regional social worker, will be at the center on Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon to meet with clients or provide consultations. The center will be closed on Presidents Day.
Administrators reported a planned paper-shredder event in May with an estimated cost of $650; the Golden Agers and the Men’s Club will donate toward that cost. The center is still recruiting a front-desk employee for a 12–4 p.m. shift at $22 per hour. Maureen Conley, identified in the minutes as a certified foot care nurse, will offer foot-care visits at $40 each. The newsletter is scheduled to be mailed next month.
A motion to adjourn was made by Sandy Collins and seconded by Jack Conway; the minutes state all members present approved. The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m. The council set its next meeting for March 11, 2026.
