Selectmen approve Troop 9 fundraiser, reappointments, donations and appointments in unanimous votes

At its April 20 meeting the Town of Atkinson Board of Selectmen voted unanimously on a series of routine items, approving a community fundraiser, multiple personnel reappointments, donations and tax-exemption decisions.
The board approved an Electronics Recycling Fundraiser organized by Troop 9 Boy Scouts for May 9 at the Community Center; Selectman Greg Spero moved the motion and Selectman Bill Friel seconded. The board recorded a 5-0-0 vote in favor. Selectmen later approved re-appointments for town inspectors and current committee members (including Recreation, Conservation, the Zoning Board of Adjustment and a library trustee alternate). Vice Chair Peter Torosian moved those motions; each passed 5-0-0.
The board accepted a $1,455 donation to the Elder Services Transportation Fund after a motion by Vice Chair Torosian and a second from Selectman Greg Spero; the vote was 5-0-0. Selectman Greg Spero moved to appoint Donald Doughty to the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for a three-year term effective April 20, 2026; Vice Chair Torosian seconded and the motion passed 5-0-0.
In assessing matters, the board affirmed several decisions on elder exemptions and tax credits. The minutes record multiple elder-exemption denials and approvals; a Veterans Tax Credit of $750 and several exemptions were noted as approved. All motions concerning assessing items were moved by Selectman Greg Spero, seconded by Vice Chair Torosian, and carried unanimously.
The board approved the minutes of April 6, 2026 as amended and adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
