The Village of New Hyde Park Board of Trustees unanimously adopted the 2026–2027 budget at its April 16 meeting and approved five other routine measures, including authorization of Abstract No. 25-22 and establishment of the board’s meeting dates for the coming year. Deputy Mayor Madhvi Nijjar moved the budget adoption (Resolution 25-101), which Trustee Eve Sheikh seconded; the motion passed with all trustees present voting yes.
The board also unanimously approved Resolution 25-102 (authorization of Abstract No. 25-22), 25-103 (affirming specified village policies), 25-104 (reimbursement of mileage costs), 25-105 (authorization for attendance at conferences, schools and seminars in the 2026–2027 fiscal year), and 25-106 (establishing dates for Board of Trustee meetings). Recorded movers and seconders were included in the minutes for each resolution.
Deputy Mayor Nijjar noted the budget process began in October and that the adopted budget represents an increase of about $35 per household; she said a copy is available on the village website and at the Clerk’s Office. The meeting record shows the votes as unanimous among the five board members present: Mayor Christopher Devane, Deputy Mayor Madhvi Nijjar, Trustees Rainer Burger, Ed Quinlan and Eve Sheikh.
The board adjourned at 8:19 p.m. on a motion by Deputy Mayor Nijjar, seconded by Trustee Burger; that motion was recorded as unanimously approved before the board entered executive session.
