Council Chair Mary D. Anderson proposed at the May 18 briefing that Chesterfield County Council begin a monthly program she called "Recognizing Ordinary Greatness." Anderson asked each council member to identify a resident in their district who has gone above and beyond civic duties so the council could recognize one person per month at a council meeting.
Anderson asked members to think about the proposal and report back with their thoughts; the briefing transcript shows the idea was introduced for consideration only and no formal guidelines, selection criteria or schedule were adopted during the meeting.
If Council pursues the program, staff would need direction to draft nomination criteria and logistics for presentation at future meetings.
