The resignation letter states Erics was appointed to a vacant seat in 2022 and elected to a four‑year term in 2024.
Mayor McCardell described the vacancy process: the application will be posted on the city website, applicants may speak for up to five minutes at a council meeting, and the council plans to interview applicants and select a replacement at the May 12 council meeting (the process includes an executive session before the appointment vote). McCardell said the city would publicize the application and timeline when it is posted.
Council members and the mayor expressed appreciation for Erics’s public service and said staff and council would support a smooth transition.
