The Chelan City Council authorized the mayor to finalize and execute a capital agreement with the Washington State Department of Commerce to support the Anderson Road housing project (referred to in staff materials as the Chelan River Heights project).
HR Communications Director Coleman told council the city had been awarded a $1.3 million grant from the Department of Commerce to fulfill the city’s commitment to the Chelan Valley Housing Trust for frontage and utility-related improvements. Coleman said staff are still negotiating the final scope with Commerce, particularly how certain frontage improvements intersect with grant requirements for utilities, and staff expected to settle the final contract terms within approximately one week.
Council moved and authorized the mayor to finalize and execute the agreement. Several council members expressed support for moving the project forward, and staff noted the award increases the available grant pool for the Housing Trust and the Anderson Road project.
Next steps: staff will finalize the contract with the Department of Commerce, return the executed agreement to council as appropriate, and proceed with scope development and coordination with the Housing Trust.
