County to renew one-year voter-pamphlet agreement with state while processes are updated

Elections staff explained to the board that the county will enter a one-year intergovernmental agreement with the Washington Secretary of State to combine local and state voter pamphlets.
"This is an intergovernmental agreement with Secretary of State's office so that we can combine our local and state voter pamphlets," said the elections presenter (S4). The presenter said the state is streamlining manual processes and testing new accessibility measures, which is why the renewal is for one year rather than the prior five-year term. She said county responsibilities remain: the county prepares local candidate statements, photos, and uploads them into the VOTVAS system, while the state will continue to manage superior-court and federal-position materials and work with the printer.
Commissioners asked about the balance of responsibilities; the presenter confirmed the county handles all local jurisdictions' materials and the state handles state/federal items. The item was scheduled to move forward to the June 2 meeting for ratification as appropriate.
